The 2013 Community Moderator Election is now underway!
Community moderator elections have three phases:
- Nomination phase
- Primary phase
- Election phase
Most elections take between two and three weeks, but this depends on how many candidates there are.
Please visit the official election page at

for more detail, and to participate!
If you have general questions about the election process, or questions for moderator candidates, feel free to ask them here on meta -- just make sure your questions are tagged election.
Little bit of reasoning/insight: Iain is stepping down, and needs to be replaced. Server Fault is current moderator heavy in the -4:00 to -8:00 time zones. We would like to get at least one moderator from outside that range (the majority of our long-lived flags come from other timezones, dragging our response time average up).
Also, we have five "active" moderators right now. This number seems to fit the site well, bu if someone goes on holiday/vacation for a week, the others feel the difference. Lives happens, this is an easier job when nobody feels like they're taking the brunt of the firehose.
