Since this has had recent edits, I don't think it yet needs to be locked. The most important part is making the point that git usage questions are generally a better fit elsewhere. | |

While system administrators do occasionally use git, this particular task is one that is almost always done by developers in the process of managing their source code. Thus it is a better fit for Stack Overflow. | |

He only got a handful of up votes when it was first posted; and IIRC that was long enough ago that the current level of hostility to lower skill level questions wasn't nearly as strong here as it is today. | |
