Nov 13, 2015 at 17:03 | comment | added | yagmoth555 Mod | @TheCleaner I understand, but my point is simply I could ask on SF a script to migrate all user mailbox from compagny A to a server X. For me it's a valid question as the GUI does not offer the same, even if "ask for script to do X"
Nov 13, 2015 at 16:56 | comment | added | TheCleaner | @yagmoth555 - yep, that was my point...the Exchange cert questions are based on quick one or two line cmdlets...where to me "scripting" is taking multiple cmdlets or logic beyond just a quick one or two lines or piping.
Nov 13, 2015 at 14:39 | comment | added | Colyn1337 | @yagmoth555 MS definitely blurred the line now that PoSh is fully OOP.
Nov 13, 2015 at 14:23 | comment | added | yagmoth555 Mod | @TheCleaner I like your opinion, as I thougth the same at first :) but mine changed when I seen advanced scripting in powershell. On my side I'am just to lazy to do big powershell script with the cmdlet, but I seen some that are big. At that point I feel not bad to call that "scripting".
Nov 13, 2015 at 13:56 | comment | added | TheCleaner | @yagmoth555 not to play devil's advocate, but to me simple cmdlets aren't scripting, but that's just my opinion.
Nov 13, 2015 at 2:29 | comment | added | yagmoth555 Mod | In IT's world scripting start to become more and more used. Did my Exchange cert and guess what, 3/4 of question is powershell cmdlet's usage. This comeback will make more and more question with script's answer on SF.

Nov 12, 2015 at 8:44 | comment | added | Reaces | Your second another example does not have an answer... So it isn't relevant. Your first another example was migrated, so again not relevant.
Nov 12, 2015 at 8:16 | comment | added | Nicolas Raoul | Some of these questions would be on-topic at softwarerecs.stackexchange.com

Added another example.

Nov 6, 2015 at 14:32 | comment | added | TheCleaner | I've learned with age on this site that these types of things don't fit neatly into Boolean logic. Which is why it's nice to have the community police itself. Some days "it" feels lenient and accepting, other days it is draconian and harsh to these questions. To me it boils down to whether it is a "help I'm not a programmer and have been struggling with this script for my needs for hours", or a "gimme the codez" question.
Nov 5, 2015 at 7:14 | comment | added | Reaces | @Sobrique Rep isn't the only thing out there though. Scripting is for some of us the most fun part of our job. Meanwhile in larger companies you don't get to do a lot of it (on a lot of our secure servers I only have ssms access, no access to the OS, so no chance to utilize scripts). That's why I at times answer powershell questions, I like writing powershell and don't get to do enough of it.

Nov 3, 2015 at 17:22 | comment | added | Reaces | The age of the posts is relevant when you want to claim that something is a trend. It also matters if you want to make the argument that both seasoned and novice users are perpetuating the issue to show recent examples of both.
Nov 3, 2015 at 16:25 | comment | added | Colyn1337 | It was recently refreshed by a comment. The other is from a few days ago. Age of a post is not relevant to the issue (IMHO).
Nov 3, 2015 at 16:16 | comment | added | Reaces | That one example is over a year old, the other example was closed and the contributors are all low rep infrequent users. Do you have any better examples?

Nov 3, 2015 at 16:10 | comment | added | Deer Hunter | A script is just a sequence of commands, a recipe. Some find it easier to write/think in PowerShell/shell than in pseudocode.
