I'd just like to expand on a comment I just left: > Server Fault is for "people who **manage or maintain** computers in a *professional* capacity" (my italics). If you have a question about administering your home system it should go on Super User. There shouldn't be anything stopping you posting answers here, but questions should be from people doing systems administration as their **job**. 1. I would hope that answers from an informed user (such as myself) would be acceptable, after all we have to work with the systems and procedures that the sys admins come up with and have an understanding of how the systems work. For example if I saw a question about limiting users access I'd want to feel I could answer that developers need more access to machines than office workers and give reasons. 2. In a lot of startups and small companies a developer **is** the systems administrator. It's not ideal, but it's the way the world works. It's not their main area of responsibility but it is their job and they **will** ask the "stupid"/beginner/fundamentals question because they have no one else to turn to.
