How to deal with bad questions? VOTE!
@iain I agree, and I do my part. When it comes to getting others to do their part, however, as I said, I think that's a problem that ultimately needs to SE team to address if we want any meaningful progress.

How to deal with bad questions? VOTE!
@JohnGardeniers You're entitled to your opinion, but it shows a fundamental failure to understand or consider human psychology. Even meaningless points in meaningless endeavors have an impact, because we've been programmed over billions of years to believe more is better than less. And when talking about a decisions on where to waste one's idle time, frankly, a place like this needs any edge it can get, or why would anyone waste time here over a movie or a video game or a book (etc.)?

Why was a question I answered automatically deleted?
@MichaelHampton Lucky for you, as an auto-deletion(?) it can't be reopened by voting anyway. Huzzah! Or something.

How can I know why the question was deemed non-constructive (and closed)?
By the way, thanks for taking the effort to ask. Entirely too rare.

Is it best practise to vote down when submitter doesn't answer?
@voretaq7 I prefer the term
manwhore
, thankyouverymuch. :p And it seemed more appropriate... or pertinent, perhaps, to pick the one month old example over the year old has-historical-significance-but-is-not-a-good-SF-question
example.

Is SF an appropriate place to ask any question about telco network?
@AlexanderJanssen Uh, no. PBX systems (first created in the 60's) would be the "dinosaur technology" in that sentence.
