Site design update is now live
I suppose this is largely a less diplomatic version of my complaint regarding the reduced contrast of the new color scheme. I'll just point out that I do agree, in case someone mistakes my less harshly worded answer for it not being a big deal to me.

Pictures of text, acceptable or not?
And by "useful to work with" I mean such things as being able to copy part of the text, be it for a quote in an answer, for researching the problem or something else.

My question was focusing on utility rather than aesthetics. The example comes across as an edge case where maybe it subjectively doesn't "look better" (not sure that I think there's really a huge advantage one way or the other, aesthetically) but I would still say that the text version is both more legible and more useful for someone to work with.

You definitely have a good point. The reason why I consider this type of fix to require much effort is precisely because it involves careful proofreading to actually help. I don't have any OCR software either but there's no shortage of free online services.

Thanks, I appreciate the input. Regarding situations where it's "not possible to avoid this", I don't think that's actually true. It's really rather that it's convenient to ignore the problem in these cases instead of putting in a little bit more effort to make a significantly more useful post. Surely, if I can OCR their images or retype their text (if short), so can the OP.

Refusing to give teh codez, good or bad practice?
@JamesRyan The problem with sharing your knowledge in an answer to a poorly stated question is that it's less likely to actually help anyone else and for redundant questions it can easily end up just being wasteful. As for the original point, I'm not arguing against answering specifics/providing examples when that actually serves a purpose other than spoonfeeding the OP but I do think that going straight for the very specifics runs the risk of not teaching anyone anything worthwhile (including the OP). If there are specifics that remain unclear it's always possible to ask for clarification.

@JamesRyan I don't think that "them being lazy" and "you just not being very helpful" are distinct options at all, I rather think that there is a strong correlation between lazy questions and people having a less helpful attitude. I would actually go as far as saying that widespread laziness can easily make people reading the questions feel frustrated and/or used, which can lead to spite instead of helpfulness.
