You need at least 10 reputation to post images
@Rena There are indeed ways to cheat SE (at least until the bots detect your cheating), but participating in the site by commenting and voting are not in that list. I feel as if you're being a bit disingenuous by saying that restricting your ability to post images is making it unduly difficult for you to post a question. As others have commented, just post a link to the image and in the vast majority of cases, another higher-rep user will come along, edit your post, and embed it for you.

If it takes "brainless destruction" to help convince people that these control panels are an abomination, then I'm all for it. Honestly, though, these questions are adding no value to the site. Additionally, this is not the first time the community has clarified its understanding of topicality and then retroactively closed a bunch of questions. Same thing happened with shopping/product recommendation questions. And we're still cleaning up old questions from that one.

The vast majority of these questions are crap. We don't migrate crap. Which you've been reminded of quite recently.

What should the community take away from panel-gate?
...just something to consider as you handle other similar situations around SE in the future. Hopefully you won't need to do so, actually, but if you do, I find that conversations and confrontations with people go much better if they're initiated from an understanding that all involved parties are working with good intentions.

Thank you for this and your other posts, Shog9. I truly do appreciate the work that went into them as well as your candor in describing what you could have done better. I think one thing that was missed (which IMHO contributed in a significant way to some of the vitriol following the removal of Hopeless's diamond) is the tone you used in many of your posts and comments. It was clear you were assuming the worst of n00b, instead of assuming that he had good intentions (as you now have realized). If you'd used a more empathetic tone, I think this would have gone down in a very different way.

@RobertHarvey Cripes, I never once said anything derogatory about anyone here. Have a good evening.

@RobertHarvey I made no such statement. I was merely explaining the main thing that sets SF apart as a bit different. I have no idea who you are or what your profession is.

@RobertHarvey You're incorrect. There's a single thing that differentiates SF from the rest of the network: the site is for professionals, by professionals. Not hobbyists. Not developers, but people who are charged with maintaining servers, networks, workstations professionally.

@Shog9 Please clearly enumerate precisely how HopelessN00b is not being candid. We all want to know. From what has been posted on meta.SF the last 24 hours, he's been perfectly candid. Let it rest. Let's move on. The bones you have to pick have been thoroughly picked at this point.

Great edit/addition. @Shog9 honestly I feel like you are intentionally trying to either misread or misconstrue what Hopelessn00b is saying. You asked him to explain himself. He did. He also has explained several times his reasoning for the close reason he was using. Why continue the negativity? We all have a clear picture of what happened, and how things should be handled from here on out. Let's move on.
