Are the rg tags getting out of control on ServerFault?
I suppose you want to ban all commercials and product placement from TV and pay full price for cable/satellite? Or ban all billboards from road sides? Ban ads from magazines and newspapers too?

Those uses are the mostly likely to be in a position to recommend buying products like the ones advertised.

RTFM inappropriate?
+1, If the question really deserves a "RTFM" then I wouldn't down vote an answer that includes it; I'd probably upvote it. If the question is decently written and reflects some general level of effort, then the "RTFM" is not appropriate.

Recent reputation calculation bug
Perhaps this is my mistake, looking back now I see there was another downvote between the WOL and PHP questions (two downvotes in a row). I assumed that these 5 were the most recent 5, but apparently that is not the case??

Overly-pedantic edits for spelling, usage, and grammar?
Agreed. Editing a post just to capitalize one or two letters, that's pointless. Fixing incorrect spelling/grammar/style, always good.

In what cases am I meant to downvote a question?
When it shows a lack of effort that makes you wonder how they find the effort to breathe, then you downvote (if you want).

Why does Serverfault (as well as StackOverflow etc.) asks for captcha so often?
Robots might simply follow every link, and therefor would get caught by this. Webcrawlers (like Google) are "guided" and wouldn't simply follow every link.

Possible sockpuppet account?
Yes, it's encouraged if he's an honest citizen; but I agree, on the surface it's suspicious.

I've just noticed a bunch of questions tagged with [2008]
And flooding the front page with corrections is so much worse than flooding it with answered questions where the questioner never came back to mark an answer... </sarcasm>

How do I close an off-topic question I posted earlier ?
You can delete your own questions before they get any answers too.
