Hah, good call. I hadn't done an ownership lookup on the IP last night, but you're right, it's an AWS IP that the hotel proxies through. Strange setup.

The ads are now back from the dead - someone at SE flipped a switch and I'm now seeing them again (as well as the ones for hot questions on other sites, which I hadn't noticed were gone all this time too).

..and the day that someone steals a moderator's session on one of the currently 84(?) StackExchange sites, causes enormous damage (Perma-ban everyone? Migrate every question in history to other SE sites at random? Merge every user account into each other, down to a user singularity? Ditto for tags?), and costs a large chunk of employee time to clean up.. well, these reasons not to do it will start to look pretty insignificant.

They're going up; not quite as fast as their previous trajectories, but close. I guess the SE ad engine just doesn't want to show them to me anymore!

@ChrisS I still haven't seen an ad, and the click-per-day stats for the newer ads have taken a severe dive (I haven't tracked the change in total clicks, but I'll check for changes from current). Still seems to me that something's not right.

@ChrisS Yeah - I still haven't had any sightings, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if it were weighted in some way.

I wonder if their display rate got pushed way down?

@JohnGardeniers Give it a shot; it's unpopular, at least relative to the major players, but that's not a good indicator of its quality (or ease of use).
