I need a script to do...!
@yagmoth555 - yep, that was my point...the Exchange cert questions are based on quick one or two line cmdlets...where to me "scripting" is taking multiple cmdlets or logic beyond just a quick one or two lines or piping.

@yagmoth555 not to play devil's advocate, but to me simple cmdlets aren't scripting, but that's just my opinion.

I've learned with age on this site that these types of things don't fit neatly into Boolean logic. Which is why it's nice to have the community police itself. Some days "it" feels lenient and accepting, other days it is draconian and harsh to these questions. To me it boils down to whether it is a "help I'm not a programmer and have been struggling with this script for my needs for hours", or a "gimme the codez" question.

Are questions about legacy products inherently off-topic on Server Fault?
I had actually made the comment in my answer (serverfault.com/questions/726785/…) that I thought it was likely that folks on SF would potentially close a question about XP these days. But I agree with your answer overall, as well as Falcon's.

What ever became of the meeting with SE staff about the "future of Serverfault"?
I wish Shog or someone on staff would answer it for selfish reasons...that would suffice enough for me.

Thanks for reviving this. I look forward to visiting this again in a year. :)

Would it be ok to create a second SF account in order to ask questions which cannot be related to me?
+1 for just using an anonymous account for random questions you don't want tracked to you. That's the easier way and it won't cause any conflict of interest you discuss about "sockpuppeting".

Is Server Fault the appropriate website to ask about system design questions?
Is the goal to help you get a job? Regardless of it isn't an actual problem you are facing then it has to fall into the good subjective rule which would be difficult from what you've described so far.

What should the community take away from panel-gate?
Hah, well I tried the Christmas of love season but it didn't seem to even make a dent.

Agreed @DougLuxem and good to see you again! I still miss the gaming days...

What should the community take away from panel-gate?
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy participating, but the community isn't as vibrant and active as it once was on the voting and answering side from what I see during my timezone.

Some parting thoughts... and apologies for the drama
"I don't know why anyone would want to be a moderator, now"
- well crap...I might as well start getting used to Evan Carroll as moderator.

Why are learning materials questions off-topic?
Let me link to my answer that helps define shopping questions here on SF meta.serverfault.com/a/6488/7861 that may help to some extent.
