Do we need a 2013 Election?
Exactly that. I think it's entirely up to you ♦ folks. If no one wants out and/or feels overburdened, I am happy with the way things are. You are all doing a great job!

On-topic question closed as off topic?
@samsmith: Also, we as a community have every opportunity to overrule the mods decisions with simply voting to reopen a question. This seldom happens, as, like I said, most regular users appears to agree with most decisions, be it 5-vote-community or moderator ones.

On-topic question closed as off topic?
@samsmith: Most of the decisions regarding the closing/dupe marking is done by regular users, not moderators (it takes 5 votes to close a question), but even if it would be the mods doing the closing: We as a community elected them to do this, and I have the impression that most of the regular users pretty much agree with the mod team most of the time - I certainly do.

Why do people down-vote questions without telling you why?
Leaving a comment is not required for a reason. It would be polite however to check if a question is topical before posting it.

Follow-up: Using an old P4 as a web server
The FAQ also states that questions regarding your home network are off-topic, even if they are about your home server. Furthermore, it states that questions are to be asked about these topics in a professional capacity. A personal home server is something else by definition.

How to search serverfault by user's username? (not by user's unique number)
I guess the reason for this restriction is that user names are not exclusive here, anyone can name themselves "Chris S", "trismarck" or "SvenW".

Question closed as not constructive / locked
Please leave it locked. Frankly, it's not worth the effort you put into this discussion.

On-topic question closed as off topic?
@Nick: Yes, I agree that this is the reasonable thing to do in many cases, and I do this where it makes sense (many questions are just plain bad and not worth any effort, as the one asking them didn't put any effort in them as well). My objection is specifically about the term "responsibility", and I firmly believe that this responsibility doesn't exist. Everyone answering questions on SE is doing this in his or her spare time and it's everyones free decision how much effort they put into this. No one is morally (or in any kind of legal way) obliged to do anything he doesn't want to do here.

With 5:-2 in favor of locking this stuff, I would consider this matter settled :)
