Worse than usenet? Our image to prospective new users.
Yes, I have the feeling that you moderators are doing an excellent job of moving most of the filth out of the way before we even see it and I am more than grateful for that. I also have the feeling that this job is a lot of work, based on comments by you and others, but of course, I can't see that for myself, lacking the proper privileges :) Your answer makes it clear though that the work is too much for the smallish mod group we currently have and that something should be done about it.

Modifying the faq, shopping edition
So, there seems to be general consensus to this, so who can perform this edit? Only SE staff or you moderators as well?

Can I Appeal "Not A Real Question"
@aaron.newton: I think you shouldn't ask questions like that in the future on SF (as I think closing as "Not a real question" was warranted), but you shouldn't be afraid of asking questions here. A close vote isn't meant personally, it's just that we feel that the question isn't a good fit for our site as we envision it. No one will think bad about you because of a closed question, especially since you demonstrated that you thought about the subject beforehand and didn't just wildly typed a random question at the first site with a text field Google showed you (which happens too often here).

tired of having questions closed -- please refine your FAQ
@Tim: I really don't understand anyone complaining about migrated questions. Migration means we send a question to a place we think can help you better. Why do you care from which Stack Exchange site you get help? Also, you have one real question migrated (and this meta question). If you are already tired of this after one migration, I think you are a little bit impatient and come here with the wrong expectations.

Is meta really an appropriate place for this question?

a "migrated" message and basically a surprise transfer to new site upon selection.
I also think it's more friendly. Auto-follow says the user: "OK, your question wasn't a good fit here, but we aren't mad at you and sent it over to our friends at SO/SU", and when he clicks on it, he get an active question window at the correct site. Without this behaviour, he is seeing a closed question and must first search and find the info on how to proceed. I am sure, many users didn't really understood that and left frustrated.

[ios] matches Cisco's IOS and Apple's iOS
I am not sure they are always off topic. I.e. an enterprise rollout of iPhones as Exchange clients would likely be on topic.

How to flag users for mod attention (for editing vandals)
Thanks, but I am not sure what to flag to make work the easiest for mods. I couldn't find an option to flag a user or an edit, so do I flag the question or answer that is vandalized?
