Close votes: 2 + 2 + 1 - Which one wins?
I assume then if the first vote was the odd one then the next vote would apply.

Are "Help me get [X] to compile!" questions off-topic?
Could be on topic if started on SF but perfectly on topic for SO and should not be migrated away from there. Compiling is compiling, no matter who wrote the ode.

Can the tags x and x11 be merged?
"None of the 42 had anything to do with X11" sounds to me like a good argument for not merging X and X11.

Maybe you've just presented your own case for not merging the two tags.

Can the tags x and x11 be merged?
That was just one example that popped into my head. It's just that I see X11 as being the more valid case that just X, because it's much more obvious what it's referring to.

Any reason my question has so little views?
Just because one answer is relevant doesn't mean the other isn't.

Why do sysadmins reinvent the wheel all the time?
I interpreted that question as a shopping question because you're really asking for a product, which is off topic.

Duplicate tag basic-authentication and http-basic-authentication
I don't feel the need to provide a reference for what is, or at least should be, common knowledge. I realise you're only young but even so you must have come across the term before without it referring to HTTP.

TAG Merge : snapshot and snapshots
I wonder if perhaps there should be a system rule to automatically merge or synonym plurals to the non-plural version of the same.

Duplicate tag basic-authentication and http-basic-authentication
Basic authentication is not limited to HTTP. The term "basic authentication" has been used to describe clear text name and password authentication of just about anything since long before HTTP even existed.

Is nginx off-topic?
I could understand asking why a question was closed but I don't understand asking if it's because of a topic that you have already seen is quite clearly on topic.
