Stack Exchange network consists of 183 Q&A communities including Stack Overflow, the largest, most trusted online community for developers to learn, share their knowledge, and build their careers.
This has nothing to do with SO (SO has required multiple approvals for a long time now) or badges (the complaints regarding sloppy approvals predate both the badges and the new format).
Up-vote good questions, close duplicates, make sure everything is well-tagged. There's a bunch of automatic searching and cross-linking that happens on the main site if these things are done, @gWaldo.
