Of course you are creating a MAC address conflict if you assign the same address to the host and the guest. If you're certain that you're right, even when you're wrong, we cannot help you... but you may have a bright future in politics. | |

There is no MAC conflict if VM shares MAC address with host machine on ESXi 5. Wthout sharing MAC address, features on pNIC do not become apperant on guest OS (vNIC). | |

I noticed this a couple of minutes after I did the rollback and edited it back in to the question. So, for about 5 minutes, there were some missing details. In my defense, those details should have been there from the beginning :) | |
