Should downvotes be moderated?
I probably wouldn't downvote that question, but I wouldn't call it "well-formed," either. It's definitely a step above "I followed this how-to guide [link] and it didn't work HALP!" but it's basically, "Here are my versions and configs. I see a lot of processes and think I may be running out of memory. Eventually it stops working." He includes a lot of good version and config info, but we'd need his error logs, the output of top, and things like that to see what was happening when it stopped responding in order to help him. Hopefully, he'll provide those.

Why does this count as a valid answer?
What Sven said. Okay, I'm not a mod, but I've noticed that my flags are more likely to be accepted if I explain why I'm flagging them rather than use the canned reasons. (For example: "It looks like the user has two accounts with the same name and has answered the question twice with identical wording. Answers have one upvote each. Seems hinky.")

can I ask about configuring Server applications on a regular PC
I'm not Michael Hampton, but for me, it would be more whether it was primarily a SQL Server question or a Windows 7 question. A primarily SQL Server question is applicable across multiple Windows OSes, IMHO.

What posts get deleted, and why?
"A lot of answered questions get migrated away from SF." I have a not-amazing but still top 21% rep on DBA.stackexchange.com that's mostly from migrations. :)

It's obvious that this is a project that you really care about. I mainly remember it, however, from your meta post when it was closed. I say this with all respect and good intention: Let it go.

Question about ReadyNAS being inaccessible was put on hold as "off-topic" — what to do?
It seems to me that the stuff about installing CrashPlan Pro is a bit of a red herring, topic-wise. Perhaps if the question was edited to be more "how do I use tech support mode to open ports?"--which is the basic gist of your question, yes--it might meet with more favor. (Editing the post will automatically drop it into the reopen queue.)

How should I review First Posts?
I frequently use "Skip" and "No Action Needed," but I'm also more generous with First Posts because, well. If it's a reasonable post, I like to do my part to get them past the "can't comment or include pics in my post" restrictions.

How to know if I'm flag-hellbanned?
Yeah, IMHO, standards on the site have changed enough that the older posts are hard. "How do I do X?" "Here's a link to a GREAT PRODUCT that does Y!" Uhhhh. Skip. And wince.

Are questions about legacy products inherently off-topic on Server Fault?
Some people are required to keep data for X years for compliance reasons, unfortunately. (Virtualize them all onto non-network-connected VMs! er, if possible.) At the same time, well. Sometimes the answer is, "Sorry, man. Upgrade." If it's not a legal compliance thing and is instead management being stingy or whatever, well, maybe that's a legit argument for them to spend, like Sobrique said.

What does the community think about the recent review queue change?
Er. I'm now banned from reviewing for two days. ;) Glowing product endorsements from four years ago all look alike to me, it seems. So, you know. If you tend to click through to the question, don't let the 3,000 items in the queue stop you from taking the time to click through.
