Ugh, I find Stack Exchange's use of "fuzzy time" everywhere quite frustrating. That said, I don't see missing "year" labels anywhere but on content from within 12 months (also: annoying). A screenshot would be good.

Which means i can't really upvote the answer as i don't know that it's correct. - this is my reason too. I upvote stuff that I can be reasonably sure is correct, but there are so many silos of information in sysadmining that I only only my tiny little section of the world.

I don't know; but 5 people on the site thought it was too broad, so that's what happens. I don't pretend to know anything about the subject in question - what I did do was read the text that was presented in the close notice and inferred from that.

An alternative idea to controlling the ingress of new questions? No, because I don't see this as a problem that requires a change to the way it's fixed.
