Are answers from a vendor allowed?
Couldn't agree with the last paragraph any more. If particular vendors caught my eye on here, you can be sure I'd be pushing for them.

Homewreckers wanted! Please handle these home-use questions
@sam In general I think so, but I have seen applications in use that require one of the desktop operating systems for at least one component of its service. I think it's back to context - playing around with a Desktop OS as a server; kill it. Using it because you're forced to; depends!

Congrats to the newly-elected mods!
Yep - I actually spent more time debating this before voting than I did in the last political elections I voted in.

What's off-topic; anything in a home setting, or anything that was designed for home use?
@quux Can't argue with that! It's certainly not how I'd speak to a customer or user etc

I've upvoted this post because I do agree, but I also want to make clear that a real draw of this site was that it was specifically for professionals. It gives it a real edge over most other sites and it's why I spend my time here rather than SU.

I agree with @MDMarra - if someone told me to investigate DFS, I would not assume they were referencing replication and vice versa. Though close, they are distinct.
