I see them primarily in comments, which are designed to be short, allow little formatting and can only be revised for 5 minutes. Among others their intended purpose is for "constructive criticism that guides the author" where the constructive sometimes appears to fall to the wayside in the abruptness of the short remark, IMHO | |
