Please rename freenas tag to truenas
And we have zero truenas questions in the database that I can see. Nice branding strategy. This should be doable.

Is there a way to 'close'/accept answered, abandoned questions?
If you look, there is a pattern to what gets pushed by Community: none of the answers have upvotes. All it takes is throwing an upvote on the best answer of the lot and it won't resurface!

Client-side validation trusts the client to validate it correctly. Sometimes it doesn't.

About the best thing for it is to flag it again saying nevermind, or hit the Comms Room chat-room to hunt up a 10K user. If they can see the flag (some are visible) they can mark it as invalid.
