Oh, I think it's worth while, just so candidates who think, "I'm going to IP block Asia!" is a great platform will go ahead and say that before voting starts. That's always handy information to have.

What @Ward said. My understanding is that they're in place because some folks used to farm for badges by clicking the same thing over and over again. But it's not a perfect system, because sometimes an answer that might have something about it that might make you want to comment might have a high rep, or a marginal question might have been soundly panned.

What Jenny D said. Also, I don't imagine people seeing you asking good, smart questions and getting upvoted for it would be such a bad thing. I could be wrong, of course.

In fact, whenever I see a new user link an image I usually embed it for them, as a general friendly thing.

It's partly the phenomenon I see in my wrists group--sometimes someone will want to send the same story through multiple times, until the group runs out of things to say about it, but after two times through I can't remember whether something happened in version two or version three any more--and partly, "Oh yawn, oh stretch, let's crush some hopes and blight some dreams!", :( and partly yeah, "Wow, some of these questions are really bad!" In the other hand, the queue being large offends my sensibilities. And yeah, it would be nice to go read a good question queue, heh.

Yeah, it's depressing in large doses. You have to stop from time to time or you go blind.

I like Jenny D's suggestion, but I'm going to suggest "[...] customize the systems to the extent that the usual administration methods are no longer applicable...".

It is clearly something we've discussed on meta, and one person volunteered that he knew it was no longer on topic. But yes, a baked-in reason would be much nicer. I'm perfectly willing to link to the meta discussion, and like I said, no offense is meant. The questions were on topic when asked.

Also, y'all, I've had a couple of people say, "Why are you commenting on my five year old post?" so you might want to be prepared to answer something like, "We're doing a big web panel cleanup and your question was in the review queue/came up in search/whatever. No offense meant; your question was probably on topic in [year] when you asked it," or whatever. The people I've spoken to have been very nice and understanding about it.

Ha, I've actually considered opening a meta "love fest" post where we shout out to people who are nice and helpful, but I don't know if it's too cheesy. :D You'd be on the list, though!
