Why downvote a question or answer on server fault?
+1, Also for off-topic or spam "answers"
comment
ServerFault's error page has StackOverflow branding
See ChrisF's comment; they're testing new caching software and it hasn't been setup to give different Offline Messages for the various SE sites yet (or it hadn't at the time anyway).

A plea to reopen
I agree with your interpretation of the FAQ, however it seems that others interpret it to mean questions that a SysAdmin would ask in the course of their job (which generally precludes job-hunting)(just making an observation). The question does lean toward discussion however, rather than Q&A. It's a fuzzy line sometimes.

A plea to reopen
I think what John is trying to say is that it's not part of your "daily job", and is very open to discussion; where this site is more specifically aimed at Q&A, not discussions.

Can we just get rid of vgv8?
@Farseeker, considering the number of times he's been banned already; and has defied those bans through sock-puppets; escalating the time frame to 6 months seems appropriate.

Does participation here mean expropriation of author moral, i.e. unalienable, rights?
To answer your question, at the bottom of every page is a link to the CC-Wiki license that all visitors are subject to (authors and readers). Your "contributions" to this site, like most sites, is a derivation of free public speech; and once you have made that speech public, it is the public's right to hear it (including as altered by others). So no you can't revoke what has been posted; you have willing submitted to it being edited by others; others have the same author rights as well; and everyone retains the right to not read an author's writings.

Should licensing questions be closed?
I think the point was, if you call yourself a professional you should know that Windows includes some downgrade rights (and where to look up the details). And the really tricky questions are likely to be of no value to 99.99% of people coming to the site because the details are too specific to the person asking the question. Most licensing questions come from people who should be asking their Technical Support (vendor, internal staff, or consultant).

restriction on downvoting newcomers
@GregD, there's probably a few of us he thinks are downvoting him who haven't actually done it a single time... like those who comment/answer his "questions".

Copy some generic questions from meta.SO?
@JScott, +10000 symlink the questions!

Should licensing questions be closed?
For most licensing questions, like the example, they should be closed as too localized. The circumstances surrounding the licensing question are simply not relevant to the Internet community at large (usually). Some questions however can be answered by people around SF, and are generic enough to be of use to the community. I do agree we could use a nice write up thoroughly explaining "contact the vendor because your situation is probably too unique to be useful to other people".

Quotas on downvoting
@MarkM; technically there's a known bug that if you vote before a question is migrated to another site, you can vote again on the new site; but it's still limited to a theoretical 3 votes, and only on questions.

Moderators abusing rules
@vgv8, you'll have to ask the SO team about the ban there; the sites have separate moderators.

Moderators abusing rules
your tone is consistently accusatory. Zoredache isn't even a moderator, yet you just specifically called him out with "what you are up to". It's become extraordinarily obvious you have plenty of learning to do, but you rarely approach these opportunities with an open mind/attitude. We don't take issue with what you say nearly as much as how you say it.
