Why is there even a tag? Isn't that a bit too localized? I did a quick look, and there's no or or , so why on $DEITY'S green Earth is there a tag?

There's 5 questions there, of which at least a couple I feel could be closed as too localized. I just want to get people's opinion on it before doing anything.

Well, my personal life goal is to get the copper tag badge for Canada. I take offense. Commented Aug 19, 2011 at 1:29

Shouldn't this question now have the status-completed tag? Apart from throwing a few jokes around there doesn't seem to be a lot more to discuss on the topic. Commented Aug 23, 2011 at 1:32

I feel it falls into the "can't stand alone" definition of a meta tag, and as such should die in a fire (or a snowdrift, if that's your preference). Also, I can't think of a situation where it'd make sense to use it that wouldn't fall foul of our dislike for either "too localized" or else "shopping question".

I would have liked the CANADA tag to be retained - it's appropriate for questions pertaining to IT in Igloos, or hazards facing consultants travelling to sites where moose or polar bears are common.
