Can I ask for advice on a problem with a server if the OS I'm trying to install is not on the support matrix?
Does that mean that if I ask a question on ServerFault about it, I'll get a response like "This isn't a supported OS so we can't help and you shouldn't be trying it"? - From some of us, yes. My initial response to questions like this is This isn't supported, therefore you shouldn't be trying it except for your own "homebrew" use, which makes it off-topic here. That of course is my own personal opinion on these kinds of questions. People are free to do what they want, but I tend to frown on doing this kind of thing in a production environment.

Legal issues upon capturing digital proof upon hosting services scam
Yes... it is the wrong place... How is it that you think the SF community could assist or advise you on what you think is a legal matter? Even if any of us had an inkling about the legal machinations involved, our input would be anecdotal and non-authoritative and it would be unwise for anyone to heed such. If you really feel this is a legal matter then your best course of action would be to seek the council of an attorney who specializes in this area.

I was in the midst of answering a question when my answer was deleted. Why?
But you are asking for special consideration. You've stated unequivocally (and I'm paraphrasing here) "If you would only consider my past contributions and my intent then maybe some modicum of leeway could have been granted to my answer." - I'm not unsympathetic to your point, but it simply can't work in the way you suggest.
