Jan 20, 2013 at 7:11 comment added user9517 Mod @mikebabcock: If you wish to make a complaint about chat then just open a meta question.
Jan 20, 2013 at 6:18 comment added mikebabcock @Iain I found this while looking at where to complain about the state of chat here ... I'm on IRC every day, and have been for over 10 years. Quality has gone up year over year rather than down. It may be old, but it works.
Jan 19, 2013 at 22:58 comment added user9517 Mod @mikebabcock: Things are much better than they were (this is 14 months old) but still requires ignoring the worst offenders. IRC is so 1990s and beardy - get with the century of the fruit bat !
Jan 19, 2013 at 22:50 comment added mikebabcock Its a sad thing when IRC is the safe place to chat at work.

Dec 15, 2011 at 20:48 comment added pauska @Iain can you please come to the chat room and talk to us ASAP - we honestly had no idea and this makes us feel really (REALLY) bad. Come back. Pleeeeees.

Dec 15, 2011 at 16:13 comment added MDMarra I noticed that you're not in chat. I hope it's because you're busy in the real world and not because you feel alienated because of asking this question. If it's the latter, come back. We already lost Chop today :(

Dec 15, 2011 at 13:48 comment added Holocryptic I'm pretty sure it's all my fault...
Dec 15, 2011 at 13:37 comment added Rob Moir Just to balance things out, I think chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/127/2011/12/14/11-13 is an example of the room being helpful and so-on with a non-reg asking off topic questions. It's not as if the room is a total sinkhole.

Dec 15, 2011 at 12:52 comment added sysadmin1138 Mod @MarkM The star-wall is a good short-hand for the funny stuff that goes through. By increasing awareness of it, we get more debate on community standards and what's acceptable. 406-unacceptable is darned funny (as is internal-error). Others skirt the boundaries.
Dec 15, 2011 at 12:50 comment added sysadmin1138 Mod As a tip for the lurkers, you can mod-flag Chat comments. All in-chat SE mods get those so you'll get a pretty quick response to the flag regardless of time of day.
Dec 15, 2011 at 12:49 comment added MDMarra @sysadmin1138 What's wrong with images on the star wall, assuming they aren't offensive? Surely the 406 cat error made you chuckle? :)
Dec 15, 2011 at 12:47 comment added sysadmin1138 Mod I admit to staying out of the Comms Room due to an increasingly hostile culture and not having time to deal with it appropriately (new job: not nearly as boring as my last one, this has consequences.). Looking at the starred posts list (chat.stackexchange.com/rooms/info/127/the-comms-room?tab=stars) is the image laden highlight-reel.
Dec 15, 2011 at 12:43 comment added MDMarra Maybe I'm missing something, but besides a handful of F bombs, what's the problem in that transcript? (not disagreeing with your overall principle, but that transcript is pretty benign compared to what I was expecting).
Dec 15, 2011 at 12:00 comment added user9517 Check the transcript - but be warned it may not be safe for your work.
Dec 15, 2011 at 11:57 comment added Mark Henderson Mod Can you tell me the hrs and the timezone this happens in? If its the same time of day I'm moderating I will keep an eye on it tomorrow.
