There is a database query I worked up:

http://data.stackexchange.com/serverfault/query/59563/finding-shoppers

In it, you will find a large selection of items that may or may not be subject to the 'shopping' exclusion of our current FAQ.

Rather than weed-whack the whole thing, I would like some feedback on what's good/bad/ugly in there.

  • Adding '%best%' somewhere in there would probably help; that word really hits the Shopping criteria for me.

Whew! There's 25. Let's do some more!

That was 50 and enough for one night. I think I need to go cry into a pillow now.

The things my eyes have seen... :'(

  • So... that's a 10% hit ratio for good questions... Sounds like I'll need to schedule a tequila night if I look at this list, huh?

  • So, I'm about to begin closing these and clearing the flags, but how do we want to close them? Off topic, not constructive or do we want to set up a canonical shopping question and close as dupes?

I'd just say offtopic @Sam - what could a canonical answer say that isn't already covered by the FAQ and/or Jeff's blog post about shopping questions (unless you fancy pasting that into an answer, I suppose...)

  • @Sam When it's something that's specifically precluded by the FAQ and the FAQ doesn't say what to do it, and is otherwise an answerable question (if we did that kind of thing around here), I OT-close.

  • Ok, thanks all. Will go through and close them when I get home shortly. Closing thy many questions on a phone doesn't sound like fun.
